in what directory is the test.wav file generated by a rendered csound file placed? All I see in the console is a note to the effect that the file was created.It is not obvious how I set this default.

The file test.wav should be generated in the current working directory. Usually one calls csound from the same folder where the .csd is, so test.wav should be located there.
