Yes, I think that’s fine.
I ended up doing “argcnt_of_ftable * (width_of_snprintf + decimal_dot + space) + \0”. It still wastes some space, but at least it grows or shrink according to argcnt. There is probably a C technique for allocating dynamic arrays with dynamic size that I’m missing.
