Is it not possible to use FMOD with Unity’s audio system? Once I ditched FMOD I never looked back.
Missing FMOD Export Options Cabbage v2.9.0
To my knowledge, FMOD isn’t compatible with Unity’s audio system in any way, in fact it’s repulsed by it. FMOD Unity setup wizard explicitly requires Unity’s audio system to be disabled and also they advise that no Unity listeners be present in the scene.
On the other hand, I have indeed used them both at the same time a while back just to test if it work in parallel, and it did, but supposedly it’s just not worth it at all because of the issues it could cause for performance and FMOD itself, so I just stuck to FMOD at that time.
Yes, now that you mention is, I do recall seeing that on installed the FMOD integration for Unity. I really like how one can use the Unity audio system with CsoundUnity, for me it offers the best of both worlds.
That was the clincher for me. Having total freedom to do whatever I want, and knowing there is always a way, because, well, it’s Csound. I never once missed FMOD. However, I have to say, FMOD is something my students really lean on. You can do so much with it without ever writing a line of code. They love that!
